AOE Looting: AQ20

I've been very busy IRL so with my limited playtime i've kept on top of all the alchemy CD's and spent some time in AQ20.

Lots of great items drop here, and the weapons can disenchant into Illusion dust and Greater Eternal Essence.  The ability to loot 40-50 in one go is amazing, I was getting one very rare transmog item a minute.

I've also spent some time levelling and playing around with the new specs for all my alts. I plan to level my blood DK from 80-85 through dungeons so if you spot a dodgy DK tank (rare i know right?) it might be me!

The patch went ok i focused on glyphs mainly and it paid off very well, currently I am posting 10 of each glyph for a very high price (600g+) and this is getting me 7 - 8k in sales a day. I have'nt been posting transmog items much this week mainly due to lack of time and also because I might be getting a bit burnt out on the AH.

I still have'nt bought the expansion and cancelled my second account today. I know its weird with the expansion so near and all these new talents but I might take a break and possibly get pulled back in for the expansion.

I hit the milestone of Two Million Gold at the end of May and now 65 days later I hit the milestone of Three Million Gold. There is probably too much information to cover in one post so i'll  start off with a lot of screenshots to give you an idea of how I made 1000k in 65 days.

Undercut or Overcut: Glyphs vs Cata greens

These two markets are making me the most amount of gold right now, closely followed by Scrolls and Transmog items.  I sold 23 Cata greens (armour, weapons, rings) and had 7.5k in glyph sales in the last 24 hours.

In Glyphs I tend to undercut, overcut and price match depending on what sort of competition I am facing. Recently I tried out a 2 phase re-entry into the glyph market. Normally I post pretty casually at 48hrs and come back 48hrs later collect gold and expired mail and repost one of every glyph again for 48 hrs. I used a relatively high threshold which meant the majority of my glyphs were posted at a high fall back of 200g.

Ink price is around 8 to 9 gold.

About a month ago I posted a wall (3 glyphs deep) at 100g. I kept this wall up for about a week and several glyph competitors stopped posting.

I got a few mails and whispers about ruining the market and how I was ruining the market for myself because before you could sell 200g glyphs and now you sell them for 100g.  After seeing some of the main glyph competitors leave I stopped walling and started 1c undercutting, I would cancel/repost 3 times a day and started making real nice money, the average price of a glyph is around 75g and ink prices have started to fall down to around 5 to 6 gold per ink.

Now I could have skipped walling and just became more active in the market by undercutting 1c in a high priced market. However there was so many competitiors in the market that it was usual to be undercut by 8 - 10 players within an hour of posting. By putting down the 100g wall for a week there are now 3 - 4 players willing to continue with lower priced glyphs.

With selling Cata greens I guess you could say I overcut. I set my threshold 1g below my fallback. I buy any item below 75g and sell items for 300-1000g depending on the item and the day, lower for Mon – Thur and higher for Fri – Sun.

I post up one of each glyph, but post up seven of every 77-81 green item (ignoring the suffix). I make sure to restock all my glyphs to 18 currently and I am building up another stock of glyphs in a Guild Bank currently five of each glyph. So after a restock (I restock 2-3 times a week) I have 23 of every glyph in the game.

For glyphs I try to pay attention and have added the names of all my competition to my friend list, noted their routine and what glyphs they are missing. For Cata greens I can not name one of my competitors.

I log on to my glyph alt 3 times a day and cancel / repost, I log on to my Cata green alt once every two days and never cancel and never undercut.

I check on herb prices 2-3 times a day, I check prices on cata greens 2-3 times a day.

You may have slightly different strategies but I find that I deal with several markets in a similar way. Glyphs and Gems are very similar, Cata greens and transmog are very similar. 

I like 48hr posting and I like to Overcut.

Transmog

I am seeing a decrease in sales for low end items, but an increase in sale of high end items. I’ve sold several high end items for 9-10k in the past month which has been great but I am running low on stock of these high end transmog items, I’m hoping AOE looting and lots of people levelling up Panda’s will bring a lot more items on to the Auction House in MoP.

 The Auction house is very volatile currently with a lot of items being dumped. I’m keeping an eye out for cheap herbs and ore which I would love to really stock up on. I will probably post a more indepth update but the alliance project is going really well, I need to finalise a few professions but I think I will be able to get one of each profession on both factions and 15 level 85’s (12 currently) by 25^th September. I still have not decided whether to buy MoP online or pre-order a hard copy. Since I will be buying two copies I might just buy one of each.

3  Cobalt Bars, buy ore smelt into bars and sell bars as singles. 

The ore price tends to be a lot lower than the bar price. This is possibly because people think it takes two ore per bar like saronite when infact you only need one ore per bar.

4  Two hand 77-80 weapons are awesome!

5  Buy silver ore, smelt and sell silver bars in singles. 

You need around 20 of these to level up JC, great item to price gouge on.

Focus on making gold during the lull, you will find you have less competition and it is a great time to experiment in different markets. Shift focus away from catering to the raiders, focus on those levelling professions and alts.

I realised I might have been pricing my 77-81 greens too low so I raised prices and now fluctuate them between 300g- 380g. I charge more on fri/sat/sun as most of my sales come over the weekend and drop prices to get a few more sales during the week.

I decided this month to go back to a similar transmog pricing strategy I had a few months ago, which basically meant I doubled the price of every transmog item I sold. It’s still too early to tell what impact this has made, I have had a good week but last weekend was super slow. Need more time to assess what impact reverting to old prices has made on sales numbers/ profits.

I’ve started to dabble in pets, recipes and trade mats. I have had consistent success flipping 378 weapons and resetting landslide / windwalk / power torrent scrolls.

Now that I have a substantial pile of gold I can be very aggressive and get into markets and correct them. I did’nt like that nightmare tears were 170g/ea so I reset the market and now they are selling for around 400g.

So basically I flip anything I can get my hands on! 

After Jim had mentioned wowuction in his livestream a few times, I started looking into it. I have to say I think wowuction is an amazing tool. I like to use it in conjuction with TUJ to get greater insight into what is selling and where I can diversify into.

Enchanting rods

I am selling arcanite and adamantaite for the most, but actually eternium is probably best for profits I can pick up ore for 2-3g/ea and sell rod for 130-170g.

Pets

From engineering pets to vendor pets these are flying off the shelves as with any holiday with a pet reward the midsummer fire festival has increased demand for pets. Pets are a great item for making gold while levelling they are very cheap to buy and always sell with demand spikes around holidays.

Embersilk bags

I have been doing a little bit of shuffling and ended up with 2000 hypnotic dust so I make these bags, I find the price peaks at the weekend so I don’t sell at 300g during week but sell lots at 400-450g on weekends.

BOA enchants

15 agi, cloak stealth, 22 int are my best sellers. I don’t have the +4 stats to chest recipe.

Crafted levelling gear

Jim had mentioned on his livestream selling levelling gear but I think he was focused on actual drops not crafted items. This also came up during The Clockworkriot Litecast episode 5, I have been experimenting with a few crafted tailoring / LW items. Some have been very successful and others not so much. I think the trick is to craft items in slots that are not slots that are mass crafted during levelling these professions. Still experimenting so will post more once I have a better idea of the items that sell regularly. Selling something for 500g which cost you 10g to craft is pretty awesome.

Super Niche Transmog Part One

 Short post today thought I’d try and point you in the direction of some rare transmog items. These are things I have seen very very rarely, sold for huge amounts and might be something your competition does not pick up.

With more and more players getting into the transmog market using very similar buying lists it can really pay to go beyond lists and look for those  items that nobody else is selling.

When you use lists you miss out on a lot of items. The manual search might take longer but it gives you a good snapshot of what is up on the Auction House and at what price.

Milestone: Two Million Gold

If you follow me on twitter @TheOvercut you’ll know I hit two million gold about a week ago. It took me a little while to figure out exactly what to write, an initial draft did just have Transmog written 50 times.

My patch day was’nt the most exciting I chilled out in consortium IRC and  made glyphs. On my realm  too many people went into a frenzy of undercutting resulting in inferno rubies falling below the pre-patch price. This was a big signal for me to get out, I cancelled all my red gems and stumbled upon some 7g whiptail. On patch day in the mad rush I spent my time restocking glyphs and selling a few transmog items. A week after patch and everyone’s supply was drying up. I stepped in and made a lot of money in Gems/Scrolls/Transmog. I remember on Thrusday morning about a week after patch looting 100k from mail box in overnight sales it was crazy.

It was risky because for all I knew days after the patch we would be swamped in cheap ore and gem/scroll prices would drop sharply. I rolled the dice and decided it did not make sense to sell things for less than the pre-patch price when there was such a huge demand from a massive influx of easily acquired new gear.

I made most of my money from transmog. I know big shock right lol. Well I got into the market early and I think it is the best market to make gold in. Now I have ventured to other realms EU and US and seen it has been very difficult on realms where there is already heavy competition. My experience I guess is the flipside to this I am the main seller, the big cheese.

I’ve been averaging around 50k/week profit from transmog for the past 6 months. Now considering I post my items for 48hrs and there is no crafting time and just reposting time it is a pretty amazing way of making gold.

I did’nt want this post just to be about how awesome transmog is doing on my realm so I decided to look back at some of my screenshots and sales and see what else I’ve been selling. If you want to read more about my succes with transmog check out Transmog: One Realm One Million Gold Profit .

 

Engi pets

Low mats cost, not every engineer has every recipe. Most of the crafted pets have choke materials that you can control keeping the quanity low and price high . This help to make this a very nice market, I might only sell 1-4 pets a day but when they are selling for like 10-15x mats cost I’m cool with that.

Flipping crafted items

Basically any crafted cataclysm item if it is dumped below mats cost then you should buy it and flip it. Jim has mentioned Savage Cloaks on his livestream many times and some of the tailoring items,  for my realm I don’t tend to see many tailoring items but I see a lot of the LW and BS items. When you see one guy post 15 savage cloaks for really low like 20g grab them. When you 9 Obsidium shields for 19g grab them. When you see low level LW/BS items like light leather pants posted below the DE cost grab them, flip it or disenchant and make your profit.

77-81 Greens

Jim & Gimp talked a lot about this market and I got into it and saw some good results. With a little experimenting I found that certain 81 items moved albeit slower than 77-80 items. Now I am a bit better expereicend with this market I can tell you pretty much any slot item from 77-81 sells. From Rings to fist weapons to items with the Beast suffix it all moves eventually. I have competition in this area and I can see using tuj sometimes a buyer will buy some of my items and some of my competitors because they are looking for a particular suffix or because my competitor does not have an item for that slot available. So a buyer might spend as low as 99g on  a pair of level 80 gloves but will pay 250g for a belt.

I have in the past week raised my prices after reading a post over at phatlewtsgold.net. Instant Gratification 

I saw the level 77 green prices were so high! So I bumped mine up and overall I am getting fewer sales but I am ok with that because I am making more profit per sale With D3 I’ve seen a pretty big drop in the number of these 77-81 items coming onto the Auction house to the point where I have had to increase my buying price.

Fortune cookies / Mysterious Fortune Cards

I never really got into barking MFC’s as there are already 3-4 players that bark them I just let them do the work and I price match. Sometimes though I see MFC very close to the ink cost (whiptail/6 or cinderbloom/5). In these situations I will buy out cheap cards and turn them into Fortune cookies. I find that there is a lot less competition in cookies compared to mysterious fortune cards.

Enchanting Rods

You’ve probably heard a lot of gold makers say get into rods, it is a market that has been around forever and you can make a lot of gold in this market. At this time in the expansion where people are moving away from mains towards their alts the enchanting rod market is amazing.

Where could I improve?

I might not be the most efficient gold maker. When I say that I mean I don’t have the greatest process, I don’t generally buy things every day. I’m more of a when something is about to run out  I will stock up on mats for a week then do a massive crafting sessions so I have enough finished items to keep me going a couple of weeks. A good recent example is when I crafted 100 Arcanite rods. They’ll all sell over time and I don’t have to craft another bunch in a week’s time. I really want to get more out of TSM so I am in the process of setting up my entire Alliance operation using TSM.

What does the future hold?

I feel like I’ve been on auto-pilot for the past month or so, I am really looking forward to some new ways of making gold in MoP.

I have not really done anything special lately, just the same sort of stuff over and over again. As of writing this I am at 2.1 Million Gold. I post the majority of my items for 48hrs and rarely cancel auctions. I’ve spent the deposit fees so I want to get my money’s worth even if there are like 10 other items below mine.

I will continue levelling my alliance alts, it has fun to do some of the new cataclysm quests. I have tended to level via pvp/lfd mainly on my horde toons. I did this on a few of my ally toons but it can be nice to take a break and do a little questing maybe stumble upon some rare spawns with nice loot.

 

I am also very excited about coming up against some new competition. If you play the Auction House a lot you tend to bump into the same names over and over again. A new Auction house is always interesting, trying to find the gaps and bump into some new people.

Probably the biggest tip I can give you as someone looking to make gold in the world of warcraft is to get involved in the community, get on twitter, reddit, check out blogs/ livestreams / podcasts.

Farming transmog items in Dire Maul West

I am levelling some toons through LFD and while doing a run through dire maul west 2 pieces of saltstone dropped /gasp

I decided to take my DK there and see what drops I could get.

In my First run I got 5 boe greens

In my Second run I got zero boe greens /sadface

I only clear the first area and the area around Magister Kalendris takes less than 10 minutes.

I used to spend a lot of time here in Vanilla. You could solo trash with any ranged dps class using clever game mechanics and they had a high chance of dropping living essence. I used to sell these for 15-20g each once the AQ gates opened and guilds rushed to craft NR gear.

Not really sure if it is a great farming spot but it might be something to check out if you are in the area. More investigation required.

Fortune cookies

Herb prices have shot up here but MFC’s can still be picked up for around 10g ea. I buy these and turn them into cookies which I sell for anywhere between 15g and 20g each. I sell them in 1 / 5 / 10 stacks.

Found some heartblossom randomly floating around in my mail.

I have a lot of stuff bouncing round in the mail. I did a massive Disenchant session to clear my enchanter mailbox and discovered 2000 heartblossom! Might buy some ore/ use my own stockpiled ore and transmute inferno rubies or just sell it raw. HB goes for around 90g/stack here.

I have been busy converting all Cataclsym herbs into inks, mainly Ethereal/IotS

Transmog brought in 43k in sales this week and my posting fees were only around 5k this week as I’m only posting on one faction for now.

I have also started advertising a transmog help service in trade.

Weekends are when most of my transmog sales happen so I decided to double prices so 10k stuff is now 20k, 1k stuff is now 2k etc. Will continue to do this for a few more weekends and see how it goes.

4.3 Prep

I did Darkmoon Faire turn in for two months trying to get some rare recipes but all I got was loads of greens and loads of bags. I disenchanted a lot of the weapons and stored the rest of the stuff. I used some greens on my own toons while levelling and sold some. I ended up with around a guild bank of greens heading into 4.3

I listened to the PWG: Podcast and read blogs, twitter was lighting up with a lot of amazing sales, so I decided to increase my prices, this was probably the time where I got most of the hate from people. I had some really good sales and this boosted my confidence so I bought more stuff and started posting more stuff and made even more sales. Twitter went crazy everyone was talking about transmog and I started posting daily screenshots of sales. It was new, exciting and I was making a lot of gold.

Experimenting cross faction

Around the time of 4.3 I got a second account and started selling items on both factions. I soon hit 500k in transmog profits with a 60/40 split with slightly more of my money being made on the horde side. Looking at the overall million gold it is more like a 70/30 split in sales. I cancelled my second account while I ran a US account and mothballed my entire alliance inventory in my guild bank for about a month. There was a lot more competition on alliance side and I mainly stuck to high/mid tier items there.

I played alliance most of vanilla but switched to horde near the end of vanilla and have been mainly horde since. It is hard for me because I have so many alts but I’d class my Tauren druid as my main, I had a feeling on items that horde players might gravitate to more than alliance players. I still haven’t seen a female Tauren in full Glorious ingame but I really really want to!

Timeframe and change of game plan: going full circle?

Initially I was pricing items around 50-100g because that was nice profit for an item I picked up for a  few gold however Keelhaul’s sales pushed me to slowy start increasing my prices. After this initial bump up in price I think my average price per item was around 1600g (Total value of Auctions divided by number of items posted).

After I hit 500k mark I started picking up more items and experimenting with more weapons / rare quality items. My inventory went from 2k to over 6k. Posting fees went up but so did sales. Near the end the last 150k or so I slashed prices. The reposting time (wtb bigger bags blizzard) was taking such a large chunk of my time. I normally used this time to write down blog ideas/posts so it wasn’t totally wasted. However competition on my realm were really cutting off my low priced sales. They were posting items at 75g to 200g and my lowest stuff was around 400 at the time. I decided just to try and clear some of this inventory. It was being bounced around mails on several toons and having 3 Gbanks full of transmog items wasn’t the best MoP stockpiling idea. Each item takes a slot and I could go into MoP with a low tier transmog item or a stack of ore, leather or enchanting mats. Today my average price per item has dropped to around 500g.

I pretty much dropped every other way of making gold because you can not beat transmog for profits in terms of the time/effort you have to put into it. I do a few things on the side like crafted pvp gear and recently 77-81 greens but in terms of gold per hour transmog was/is so ahead of everything else. It took me around 70 days to make 500k and another 80 days to get me to 1 million however the last 500k felt really slow mainly because I was actually selling more stuff but at a lower price. I’m sure it’ll take more than 80 days to get another 500k purely because my prices are so low now and the amount of other players in the market.

I stopped using buying lists around the time me and EPP released our leather list. I’ve been doing transmog for so long I can mainly tell if I want to buy an item just from the name. It is very very rare for me to come across an item I don’t already have and that is normally because it is a super rare drop.

Looking at the math it works out as an average of 200k Profit a month  (Profit = Sales – reposting fees – buying items)

I made a little over 1.2 Million in sales to get this 1 million in profit. Those costs can add up if you are posting lots of items and also trying to flip expensive items (e.g Chan's Imperial Robes). It currently costs around 8000g a week to repost items and sales can be unpredictable. I recall making 130k in 9 days around the same time as the Love is in the Air event but also I have had quiet weeks where after deposit fees I’ve only just about broken even.

I’ll most likely hit 2 million liquid gold in a couple of weeks, I’ve come a long way considering that I was sitting at around 300k in November. I am currently focused on levelling alts on my second account and alt realm, I got every boa except the ring for my tank/healers and I am going to sit in SW and just LFD to 85.

Final thoughts and thanks

Majority of my sales were made horde side which sets me apart to a certain extent I think from Keelhaul and Elvine.  I am very goal–orientated and I’m still thinking about what my next goal should be. My realm is very saturated and prices keep on falling. Seeing mid tier items as low as 200g while the cost of picking these items is over 30g makes me a little sad and there is not so much room for profit. I’m still sitting on over 5000 items so the increase in buying these items does not affect me as much as others however it is a factor in future profit potential.

I never really made this connection before but looking back at my gold making career I have to say I was more suited than most to this new way of making gold. Back in The Burning Crusade I realm hopped and made lots of horde and alliance toons. I was really into level 39/49 pvp I would start on a new realm and mine copper ore to get some starting capital. I would then use this gold to flip twink items. I knew most about 29/39/49 brackets I would flip greens, blues and purple quality gear. I would have to be patient and search the Auction House daily looking for a good deal. I would negotiate and try and bring the price down if I was buying or try and get the highest price possible when selling.

 I am a relatively new player in World of Warcraft. I only began playing  on my main character  Audem on US Fenris in June of 2011. I was a total noob to online gaming and MMORPG's in general. I remember being shocked that I could talk and play a game with players all across the world in real time and do anything I wanted. I progressed through the game, attempted to raid, and was always the most greedy person in my guild (though usually the most broke... I have a spending problem!). I became obsessed with trying to make gold because I had a dream. I realized that I was never going to down Heroic Ragnaros, it just wasn't going to happen but there was something else I was in awe of and was determined to get. It was Vial of the Sands and it would be mine. There was only one problem I had like 10k gold after 6+ months in the game and acquiring epic flying (borrowing gold from a former GM for that) that was all I had though I tried and tried to find ways to get the scratch up to buy it I never could. Then it happened.... 4.3!

            It was a cold day about a month after patch 4.3 hit and I was still struggling making gold when it happened for me. I was at work checking over my twitter feed when I kept seeing this guy being called the Mogfather showing the world how he was making literally TONS of gold flipping low level green items. Players wanted these greens to use for transmogrification and they were paying as much as 20k gold per piece. I was shocked that this was possible because I had tried for a few weeks to sell these things on my realm and no bites so I reached out to  @Deazeroth aka The Mogfather asking him whether or not he could do it on my realm as well because I was trying and it wasn't working at all. He kindly agreed to give it a shot and I scrambled with the RAH app on my iphone and got a guildie to send him 200g to play around with. He joined my guild and we began to talk about the items to buy and flip and he showed me where to find his lists. I was giddy (though quite skeptical) and began buying everything I could find that fit his theme and mailed off to him and sat back and waited. It wasn't instant,  it wasn't in a day, but in about 3 days we had built his inventory to around 100 pcs and profits started coming in. I couldn't believe it! I picked his brain constantly, I continued to buy and he continued to post and after around 1 week he had made me 5k gold! It was like Christmas for me. That's where my journey began.

            I took that initial 5k plus the roughly 20k I had personally and went to work. The Mogfather had left me roughly 80 pcs of inventory and a good knowledge of what to do.  I began using TSM and Auctionator and scoured my AH via the game client and RAH app for hours a day. I was obsessed with it. I started making sales... 2k one day, 9k a few days later, 24k one weekend, the gold was pouring in and all I was doing was buying low and selling high. I didn't have time to raid,  didn't have much time to run my guild, nothing I was obsessed and it was ok! I made my first 100k about a month in (maybe less) and was feeling pretty good about things. I technically had the gold to buy my Vial but greedy goblin set in and I wasn't comfortable letting it go just yet but did want to do something else. 

            I play Horde on my main and all of my alts but I had been noticing that the models transmogrification wise for characters was so much better on the Alliance side. I had a guildie help me move 1k gold over to the Alliance side and made my first Ally toon. Bankonally was his name and that is all he was. He was a human hunter and never made it past level 1. He didn't have to! I began the same process again and was AMAZED at how many sales I raked in on the Alliance side. I bought a lvl 11 guild with 7 tabs for 7k about 2 weeks later, started stocking up, and literally making a killing on the AH. I was literally posting around 2,000 auctions a day across both factions, deposit fees were in the 1,000's but it didn't matter because I was clearing 3-5k a day. A month went buy and I was up to 100k gold on the Alliance and it was finally time. I found my Vial on the AH for 38k snagged it up, had a guildie help me move it over to the horde side and victory was mine! Hell I even decided to wear some of the stuff I'm selling because why not market a little while out in the world. The two photos are of my Rogue Splitpea wearing full Bonechewer with  Boneshredder shoulders and gloves plus my new Alliance Toon Cailou in almost a complete set of Vanguard plate!

            There were very few if any cons to selling transmogrification gear for me. Trade Trolls would rage “That is never gonna sell!” “lol 5k for a lvl 50 green”and right after that I would post “XXX on the AH now. 9K!” …......... Troll Rage........... “a buyer has been found for you auction of XXX”. I've had mails from players raging on me. I get whispers “thanks for ruining the economy on this server” to which I reply “your welcome”. I have been reported as a gold seller and accused of making the game unplayable for leveling characters. I have also gotten the mails from people grateful that I had the one item they were looking for and more requesting pcs that they themselves couldn't find. I was and am always willing to help and even cut a deal to those genuine people in game and love it when I see them in Org wearing my gear.

            I have since retired Bankonally as a toon on the Alliance and rolled a DK and leveled enchanting so I could DE the items that wouldn't sell. I have began to stockpile cloth and dusts for MoP and continue to sell albeit at a much slower rate now that we are 5 months into the patch. I use a bank alt on the Horde side as well but it is fairly well known on my server who I am and what I do. I am the GM of my own guild with over 250 members and am quite happy to say we are 1/8H DS and ALL guild members have full repairs along with flasks and feasts paid for by the guild that is 100% funded by my transmogrification sales. The transmogrification market has changed the game for me, I would still be the guy that had to borrow 2500g from my former GM for epic flying just to manage it. Now if I want it I buy it and don't worry about what it costs. I have dipped into so many new markets that I now have a steady stream of gold coming in  via shuffling, crafting, and flipping that I know if I spend 10k today I'll make 11k tomorrow so who cares.

            In conclusion the transmogrification feature added with patch 4.3 has netted me over 400k gold. Liquid gold after buying Vials, funding a guild, Mechano Hogs (x3) and I don’t have a care in the world as far as gold goes. I lend gold out to guildies never intending to be repaid. I give 1000g to random players attempting to sell 20x Wool cloth in trade and watch them freak out, there is nothing better than bankrolling a lvl 19 warlock that is selling wool cloth.  I would like to give special thanks for all of this to @deazeroth (for getting me my start),  @powerwordgold (for having a site to bring all the lists together), @theovercut (for supplying me a forum to write this and for the EXCELLENT leather lists!), @bishopswow (for letting me bounce ideas off of from time to time), and too many others to name.

What I learnt from the experience

I have really enjoyed working with a smaller inventory, reposting 100-200 items is a lot faster than over three thousand on home realm. Playing on a realm with such high population has opened my eyes to the amount of items that appear on the Auction House everyday.

The first few times I saw the Auction House I had to resist the urge to basically buy everything. I had to think differently or did I?

I used wowhead to check drop rates on items I thought looked nice or thought might be rare. I used similar tiers/prices as my home realm; I quickly found that the larger supply of items was also matched with a much larger population of potential buyers.

104k in 17 hours /played works out at around 6000g per hour. A respectable amount for a max level toon with two professions but I did this on a level one with no professions.

I only logged on this characters 2-3 times a week and therefore rarely came across items that many would class as top tier. This forced me into looking again at items not on any lists, looking at rare quality items and experimenting with items I had never sold before.

The future of Transmog

There is still gold to be made in transmog but it does depend on the server demand and competition you face. I was lucky that the competitors on this realm had not crashed prices yet. When I arrived most mid tier items were priced above 1000g. What I am experiencing might be a little ahead of the curve but I predict that over time a lot of mid/low tier items will be sold very cheap for 300g to 700g and only the really rare drop items will hold their value as we head into Mists of Pandaria.

If you divide total sales by the number of sales we get a figure of 712g. This is the average sale price of my items on this realm. When people initially get into transmog they are after that big sales 2k, 5k even 10k however those items that sell at below 1000g are as equally important, not every player is going to stump up 5k for a transmog item, you have to make sure you are hitting as many potential buyers as possible. Those small sales add up.

When thinking about it 100k is not what it used to be, my next goal is to hit 250k but I might start flipping other items like glyphs and pets and adding in other ways of making gold into the mix.
