7 Days in Gold Making: 25/04/13

High level cloth -> High level essences

I am still buying all the windwool I can get my hands on and turning it into Ethereal shards. Prices have risen in the past few weeks, no more 10g windwool stacks /sadface now it is closer to 40g.

I craft the 458 bracers and use the ethereal shards to make sha crystals once a day and also make mysterious essence. I always end up with lots of spirit dust when DE'ing the rings from ghost iron ore, having a source of very cheap mysterious essences helps me keep all the scrolls stocked up to 20 or 40.

Low level cloth -> low level dust

I was levelling my enchanter and needed 155 Vision dust and there was none of the Action House so off i went to wowhead to figure out what to make. I now buy up any mageweave cloth below 15g a stack and sell the dust between 4 - 5g each and the essences for 25 - 35g.

March Gold Making 2013

The month started with some professions kit sellling, by sorting out my guild banks and a few hours of farming while in LFR queue I managed to put together 7 profession kits. As of writing i've sold only 2 alchemy kits so far for total of 23k in sales. I will look again at my prices and might drop them for my other kits.

I get a lot of whispers about Blacksmithing kits however when you say you can provide one for 15k they are no longer interested. Out of all the profession Blacksmithing is the one I get asked about the most however these same people are reluctant to pay more than 10k to buy one. For now I continue to bark my current kits and dont plan to make any more

Leveling alts 88-90

So I have used this spot on three of my toons so far, you will need rested xp and a battle standard is very useful.

Go to 60,87 Townlong Steppes

Fast respawn mobs and a rare , also nearby is a quest mob called Needlebottom that gives you 100k xp with rested xp. The respawn time is around 45 seconds.

If the rare spawn is up kill it if you can, very easy on a tank or pet class.

1) kill all the mobs including the turtles that spawn near the rare spawn
2) Kill Needlebottom
3) kill 1-2 mobs nearby
4) Repeat 1-3

Drop your banner in the turtle area for the most benefit. Also you can queue LFD while you grind these mobs.

Great spot if you are getting a little bored with TS, DW questing.

Nine Golden Lotus a new record for me

The Hunt for Large Brilliant Shards

I recently acquired the recipe Enchant Chest – Greater Stats and have all my eight alchemists pumping out Essence of Air so I need lots and lots of Large Brilliant Shards. They are around 40-45g each on my realm so I headed over to BRD.

Check on the rare spawn on the way in, and check again every dungeon reset. The spawn time is around 2-4 minutes.

Zone into BRD and use the abandoned mole machine at the entrance.

Shortcut to just past the grim guzzler, then jump down to Lord Incedius.

Kill Fineous Darkvire.

Next up is the vault, then Pyromancer Loregrain. Head over the arena area and move towards General Angerforge.

Then continue as normal to the last boss.

I try to loot everything I kill but will sometimes skip some mobs just to get through the run a little quicker.

Make sure to kill Plugger because he can drop nice transmog item.

From a run you can get Transmog items, GEE, Illusion Dust, Dream dust and BRD is a great place to get Black diamonds also. You will get 45-50 LBS per hour, a stack of illusion dust and Runecloth (which I use to turn into more illusion dust using tailoring/disenchanting)

The Hunt for Greater Planar Essence

I have been doing my destroying scans using TSM but I just can’t get enough Greater Planar Essence.
I need them to make Enchant Cloak - Stealth which is used for BOA cloaks. Faid recently did a video on this enchant: WoW Gold Making - Enchant Cloak: Money (Ep 7)

My tips on grinding the Cenarion Rep is to go to The Underbog and set it to heroic difficulty, go ahead and clear the place but log out while still inside the dungeon, come back 25-30mins later and all the trash will have respawned ready for you to clear again You can also run Heroic Slave Pens and Heroic The Steamvault once a day for additional rep and a change of scenery.

So while flying around Nagrand picking up some Primal Air I remembered Gevlon doing a post on farming a Halaa vendor ghostbocis farm , I went over and the same items are still available and they are a great source of Greater Planar Essences. I am going to keep my alt here because the vendor refreshes roughly every thirty minutes.

So I paid a little under 30g to buy all six items.

I got 12 Greater Planar Essence and 3 Arcane dust. This is a fantastic source of Greater Planar Essences.

Where do you get your Greater Planar Essence's from?

The Hunt for Illusion Dust

I am working on my stockpile and I want a good amount of enchanting materials.

Take a look at this post by Faid I buy all my Greater Eternals from the vendor

If you disenchant these items you mainly get Greater Eternal Essence(GEE) but will also get some Dream Dust and Large Brilliant Shards. So far I am estimating 0.9 dream dust per disenchant.

Firstly check your realm! is disenchanting this item profitable? it should be but worth taking a look just in case your realm is weird.

I like to think of this vendor as a source of infinite dream dust. If you can sell every GEE you will be making gold but also have lots of dream dust. Dream dust is averaging around 1g here. I get more than I can sell as dust directly. I craft tailoring item to try and turn this excess dust into items that can be disenchanted into something more useful/profitable. You can also burn through a lot of dream dust crafting enchanted thorium blades, but it is getting increasingly difficult to stock up on cheap thorium and rugged leather.

Star ruby can sometimes be picked up here cheap I’m not sure why but I gobble them up when they fall below 1g.

If a star ruby costs less than 8 Runecloth then I craft Wizardweave turbans. An item that disenchants into Illusion Dust, Greater Eternal Essences and Large Brilliant Shards.

On my realm Runecloth is around 10-12g/stack, 8 Runecloth costs 4g but if I can get the star ruby for 1g it works out cheaper using the turban.

In the mood for farming? Head over to Hellfire Ramparts and get you some Runecloth.
Jim made a really good video One-Pulling Hellfire Ramparts | WoW Gold Making  go check it out now! I also really like this video by FormerRuling Hellfire Ramparts in 1 pull (response)   engineering is useful at last!

Wizardweave turban uses 4 Dream dust compared to the 2 for the robes. I can sell Dream dust at 1g each so 8 Runecloth is still more than the cost of Star Ruby + opportunity cost of the extra dream dust.

4 > 1 + (1+1)
4 > 3

This is something to keep an eye on, if Star Ruby is really high priced, and dream dust is selling for a lot more where you are then go ahead and craft Wizardweave robes.

The point I am trying to get across is think outside the box sometimes and  look at the prices for some items you may not use often. I may only have enough cheap star rubies to craft 20 turbans a week and then may turn round and craft 150 robes. The thing is those turbans have a lower cost per unit than the robes and I want to minimize my cost of crafting, also turbans have a higher disenchant value than robes.

Don’t discount an item for disenchanting just because it takes more materials, it might work out cheaper if you can get those additional materials at a good price.

How is your MoP stockpile coming along?
